Tangy, aromatic classic Red Enchilada Simmer Sauce with zippy chili flavor, made even better with rich notes of cocoa, smoked paprika and the pleasantly warm heat of ancho pepper. A bold and smoky red sauce for simmering cheese, beef or chicken enchiladas.
Suggested use
You will need:
- 8 corn tortillas
- 8 ounces (about 1 ½ cups) shredded Monterey Jack or Cheddar cheese
- 1 pouch Simply Organic Red Enchilada Simmer Sauce
- Preheat oven to 400º. Lightly grease a 3-quart baking dish.
- While oven is preheating, wrap tortillas in foil and warm in oven for 5 minutes.
- To assemble enchiladas, place 2 tbsp cheese into each warm tortilla. Roll each tortilla and place seam-side down in baking dish.
- Cover tortillas with simmer sauce. Sprinkle with remaining cheese.
- Cover with foil and bake for 12 minutes or until heated through. Remove foil and bake 5 minutes more. Serve with your favorite toppings.
Chef Suggests
Substitute shredded cooked chicken or beef for the cheese in the filling.
